Created by an unknown maker. Each cufflink is set with a sparkling antique mine cut diamond and a domed gumdrop blue sapphire, sometimes called \"Night and Day\" cufflinks. Perhaps a nod to the Victorian ritual of wearing diamonds only after dark. The two-sided cufflinks allowed a wearer to display sapphires during the day and reverse to diamonds at night. In the Roaring Twenties, as social customs evolved, these versatile cufflinks more than likely allowed the sophisticated man a quick change from day to a more formal evening. These have been fully tested and are guaranteed to be as stated. They test as 14 karat gold though the top is most likely a higher quality matte white platinum or rhodium plate. This is not uncommon for cufflinks of this time period. The gold underneath has not been polished and yes gold does tarnish it just takes longer than most metals. As with all items of this age, there will be minor blemishes and or scuffs all commensurate with age. Please see photos, these are a true antique treasure.
